STORY:
You wandered across the plains for some time. A refugee from the crashed Terran vessel ISV-Kran, you fled when the terrible Skaarj aliens attacked the downed ship. With just your Dispersion Pistol to protect yourself, yoe encountered several species of hostile wildlife.
After days of wandering, sustaining yourself on native plants and natural water springs, you find yourself entering the hills. With time, the air becomes colder, moist and salty. You scramble over a ridge and see before you a great ocean, at the foot of a sheer rock cliff.
You follow the cliffs, and soon come across a small Nali village nestled in a coastal valley. Looking down, Krall can be seen patroling down below. You look up as a Skaarj shuttle roars in from the sea, and stumble backwards onto some rough vegetation. With a crack the vegetation breaks, and you're falling down a shaft...

GAME INFORMATION:
Single Player: Yes
Cooperative: No
Deathmatch: No
Build: UnrealEd 2.0 with Unreal Tournament v4.36
Tashara's Cove is a three-map pack of single player Unreal maps designed to work under Unreal Tournament. There is no UT game content, this pack was created for UT because only UT's UnrealEd 2.0 worked on my new PC! It also allowed me however to use the improved brush tools in UED2, and allows you as the player to use UT's improved engine :)
THESE MAPS WILL NOT OPERATE UNDER ORIGINAL UNREAL, RETURN TO NA PALI OR UNREAL GOLD

INSTALLATION AND RUNNING:
Put these files in your UnrealTournament\Maps folder:
-Tashara1.unr
-Tashara2.unr
-Tashara3.unr
-Tasharaend.unr
Put these files in your UnrealTournament\Music folder:
-Chizra1.umx
-Newmca16.umx
-Sacred.umx
-Surface.umx
If you possess the Return to Na Pali expansion pack and thus downloaded the version of Tashara's Cove without music files included, you must copy these music files over from Na Pali for the maps to work.

To run the maps in UT, enter "open tashara1" in the Unreal Tournament console to start. Difficulty settings are supported: use "open tashara1?difficulty=X" where X is a number from 0 to 3.
If you want the UnrealTournament menus to have the Unreal menu functions available, you will have to start UT up with the map i.e. by double-clicking on it from My Computer or Windows Explorer, or by launching it with a command line. You will also need to use your advanced options screen ("Preferences" in console) or user.ini file to set up keys for the following commands:
-ActivateTranslator
-InventoryPrevious
-InventoryNext
-InventoryActivate

TECHNICAL ISSUES:
I've noticed that UT's EAX 3d sound tends to screw up the game's ambient sounds, attenuating them far too much. So, I recommend that to get full enjoyment out of Tashara's Cove, that you turn off 3d sound - note that UT needs re-starting after making this change.
There are no major bugs that I am aware of in the maps. On one occasion the ending sequence didn't work entirely - but 99% of the time it does and you won't really know anyway if you haven't seen it when it IS working!
These maps were designed with the Direct3d renderer in mind (which washes out shadows), on a *fairly* bright screen. I have seen it operate on a darker setting on another PC and it's still ok. If you really can't see where you're going, then you're running too dark, turn your brightness up :P .
By the way, if the tree leaves have black borders and other masked meshes (parts of some creatures) look odd, it's not me, it's UT's Direct3d and OpenGL renderers :( .

Enjoy the maps, and give me your feedback!

LEGAL:
Umm, yeah, this is in no way related to Epic Megagames, Digital Extremes or GT Interactive etc etc, umm, you may put this on a distribution CD or up for download but make sure I get credit etc etc :-) . This is strictly free of charge must not be sold and so on. Hey, why are you reading this, you should be playing Tashara1 by now (or at least starting UT).
