Gramercy is Chris Burgess’s (author of Deep Spate 666 and One Day) first map, released on 3rd October, 1998. Even in his debut map, Burgess makes it apparent that he has a good affinity for level design – few people can create locations that are interesting to look at, and have a certain level of conceptual grandness to them on first try. Gramercy is such a map. From a game play perspective it has not too much to offer, although it supports various difficulty settings that give it some replay value. But for most players it probably won’t be interesting enough to replay. If you don’t want to be bored start with Hard difficulty or higher. The story is not too deep, but at least it exists, and not all maps from the time, not to mention beginner’s map can tell that much. I personally also liked the scout’s translator messages, an unknown figure whose footsteps you follow throughout the map but never meet him. Worth a quick 15 minute play through.
