Trapship, 7.5 out of 10 based on 4 ratings

VN:F [1.9.22_1171]
Rating: 7.5/10 (4 votes cast)

Released between Traptemple and Skaarj City, Trapship is another one of DavidM’s early maps from the good old times when he was pumping out one every few weeks. He used Flare.utx – a texture package that comes with out-of-the-box Unreal, to add his own textures – a perfect example for other new mappers of what to avoid. We suggest to back up your original Flare.utx before copying the one that comes with this map.

The screenshot probably tells a lot about the architectural complexity of the map. Don’t expect much more from the gameplay either, or a story of any kind. This map is exactly what you would expect from this period of the author if you know a few of his works from 1998. The classic early DavidM style ending (the map seamlessly transitioning into one of the original Unreal maps) is not missing either.

Can be a simple example map for beginner mappers through which they can examine some basic technical features of UnrealEd such as exploding walls, SpawnPoints, etc. But don’t try to learn anything about architecture, lighting and gameplay from this one. The home page featured maps slider is the place you should be looking for such maps.
